Other Product Review

LG&E dug 2 holes on Smyrna Parkway I did an extremely poor job of repairing the whole day. The whole day. Going north just passed the car wash is convex and not smooth at all. The hole the dog going south on Smyrna ParkWay across from the car wash is concave and not smooth. This road was recently repaved and they did a pathetic job of repairing the holes

Driving home from Doctor today a Black Kia Spectre (lic.#484 DER) Ky Tag with a LG&E Contractor sign in window was behind me cut thru gas station at high rate of speed and cut me off and almost caused accident. The car was in bad enough condition he would of loved for me to hit him. It was too close that I had to slam brakes. You need to screen drivers more closely. He should be reprimanded at the least. The way he drives it won't be long before he hits someone and if it would of been me, I think you know what I would have done. When I finally passed him to get a look at him he was texting. Thanks for your time Alan W.

Gas disconnected

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I admit being lazy about paying bills and I did receive a brown notice on one of my three accounts. One gas bill and two electric bills were due on 1/17 and I did not sit down to do the bills until the end of the month. My bill pay feature through my bank gave me the option of paying the three bills on 2/3 at the earliest and I stupidly chose to do that because it was easier for me. In the evening of 2/3 I felt like it was getting cold in the house and found that my gas was turned off. As it was 8:30 at night I decided to just check that the payment had gone through and to call LG&E in the morning. About 8:30 am I called and was told that they did show that the bill had been paid and would schedule a time to reconnect. Someone had to be home because they have to check pilots. I asked if they could give me an idea what time someone would be here and was told I would receive a call to set this up. We verified the phone number. Since at this point the house temp was about 60 degrees and falling (and I have a polyurethane floor that is curing) I birddogged the phone all day and was home looking for them all day. At 5:30 pm (still on 2/4) I called the customer service line again to ask if they would still be coming out. I was told that someone had knocked on the front door at 12:45 in the afternoon, no one answered so they left and put me on the schedule for the next day. This is a duplex apartment with a locked foyer) and two doorbells! So anyway the agent put me on hold to check if they could get me back on for that evening. They said they would and said they would put a note that the owner would be there for sure. The time would be anytime between then and 11:00 pm. I birddog the phone and sit bundled up on the couch until after 11:00 waiting for them. The temperature in the house is now approaching 50 degrees and the outside temp is dropping. At 7:30 am I call the customer service line and I am told that they KNOCKED on the door again at 7:00 pm the night before, except I stayed in the front room the entire evening to make sure I would not miss them if they decided to not use the doorbell again. They put me back on the schedule and told me to leave the door unlocked and leave a note on the door with the date and a signature authorizing them to enter the house. I did this right away and now it is almost 12:00 pm and the temperature in the house is too low to register on my thermostat which goes down to 50 degrees. The low temp last night was about 15 degrees last night. It's about 20 degrees outside right now. Thank god I was able to send my 6 year old to her other parents house since there has been no heat or hot water here for approaching two days. I am about to call again. If they were delivering pizzas they would have called me or given it to me for free. What kind of service call people are less capable and accountable than the pizza delivery guy? Wish me luck.

LG&E act arrogantly because they're the only utility company in Louisville, KY

I had my gas and electric shut off. They neither called me, knocked on my door, emailed or texted me to tell me that they would. But they did charge me a reconnect notice and then charge me more to pay the bill by phone. They also made me pay a deposit. They claimed that they sent me a disconnect notice, but the notice is not clarly visible to most busy people. Louisville Gas and Electric are able to act like the arrogant bastards they are because they are the only game in town. Their very poor behavior is an argument for competition.

Louisville Gas and Electric - Billing Department Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They hardly ever send a disconnect notice. A few years ago, like you I had neveer had an issue with payments until they came out & turned off the power to my home & business. Why were both turned off since they claimed only my home was passed due I dont know. Both payments were mailed together like always & my business payment was processed. I was also charged the reconnect fee & within 24 hours of my phone payment they processed my check as well. When I complain to LG&E & requested reimbursement for my loss of business due to their error I was bullied over the next few months until I dropped my complaint. Instead of receiving bills I was getting disconnect notices before my payment was even due. A couple of times they showed up to disconnect my power 2 weeks before the bill was due.

It gets even better! They admitted to processing 2 payments out of my bank account last month, for the sum of $1400 so instead of being reimbursed I head that extra payment pay for this month service.

Well just a few hours ago they showed up to disconnect my power!

It was paid last month & they didn't send a bill or a disconnect notice. How can you disconnect service to an account that's already paid?

LG&E cant keep power on in my neighborhood

Once again without power and no storms or wind. Been 72 hours since last outage. Same spot as always think they would replace it instead of repair it. Oh wait I live in Valley Station people in charge around don't care about this part of the county we are just SECOND class citizens!!!! A friend of mine says we lose power here every time a fly ***, well it's too cold for that tonight. Just another wornderful Christmas present from the world's worst electric company. So tired of this, we will get it back for maybe 10 minutes before it goes out again for long time normally go through that a few times before it comes back on and stays on. I won't reset a clock fire at least an hour when the power goes out.

Disconnected with no notice

Got a call at work from wife, electric is turned off. Called LGE to find out what was going on, they said I was in disconnect status because my payment was late.

I asked why I did not receive a brown disconnect statement, an e-mail, a phone call, or even a knock on the door. I was told that they mailed a disconnect notice and that my postal carrier must not be doing their job. Always been in good standing with LGE, never had my service disconnected in the past, and have paid them thousands of dollars in the past year alone. The disconnect was supposedly over $220 that was late by 12 days.

I was charged a reconnect fee for their negligence. Amazingly, the commonwealth of kentucky allows businesses like this to operate whatever way they want to.

Attorney General and Public Service Commission both said that because LGE "claims" they sent a disconnect notice that there is no action they can take against them. I suppose I should just claim that I paid the bill on time, since all it takes is a false claim to justify WRONG actions.

LGE Charges consumers for their errors!

My power was disconnected yesterday, while I was away from my home. My son asked the meter man to wait a moment while he called me, because I had a payment confirmation number to give him. The meter man refused to wait, and shut my power off, eventhough I had just paid my bill. I discussed this issue with a supervisor. They charged me a reconnection fee, but waived my deposit. Later that evening, a service man restored my power. Today, another meter man came back to my apartment and disconnected my power again! He claims that the power was already on when the meter man came back out to turn our power on, and that is against the rules. Therefor, they are charging me an additional $60 to restore service. I don't know who broke the rules, but it was not me, and I should not be punished for their error. Maybe two meter men were given the same work order to restore our service? Maybe the meter man was pissed off that he had to come back out to restore our service? Maybe the meter man that restored our service meant to restore our neighbor's service, and accidentally hooked up the wrong meter? I don't know what happened, but it was there error. I should not be billed for it.

Better Business Bureau did not help at all. They refused to reimburse me, and there isn't anything I can do about it. They should have a competitor business that consumers can switch to if they are dissatisfied with their service.

They would rather let my children starve

After being with lg&e for 13 years, and always being on time with my payments. (The reason for being late is that they raised my bill and changed my due date without any type of notice.) All I asked for was three days, so that my children would be able to eat that week. I was told that I should of thought about that before I got behind. Even though they are the ones that changed the billing date by 20 days. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was told one would call me back, three days later I am still waiting.
